Maria Razzoli, Ph.D.

Biography

I graduated from the University of Parma, Italy with a B.Sc degree in Biology; I received a PhD in Animal Behavior from the University of Florence, Italy; I held a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, in Behavioral neuroendocrinology; I worked at the CNS Disorders Drug Discovery Center of GlaxoSmithKline then Aptuit in Verona, Italy as senior research scientist. I specialize in the study of behavioral and physiological responses to stress as well as pharmacological manipulations and aging. I hope to continue to be involved in the conduct and dissemination of exciting scientific findings. I grew up in Italy and I moved to Minnesota in 2011 for my job at the UMN.

Research and responsibility in the lab: Coordinating the in vivo activities in the lab. Training the lab staff in the conduct of in vivo experimental techniques. Personally executing several collaborative and individual projects in the lab requiring in vivo research. Managing our animal colony. Running statistical analysis of the data generated in the lab. Writing scientific papers, reviews, book chapters. Assisting in grant writing. Giving internal as well as external presentations of our lab results. Being the behavior and metabolism specialist for the UMN Physiology Core.

Winner of the Research Technical Staff Award 2023.
