Biography

I was born and raised in Durango, Mexico. After high school, I accepted a scholarship at the University of South Carolina Lancaster to play tennis. I spent my first two years of college there and then I transferred to Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan, on a tennis scholarship and to continue my studies. I graduated from Michigan Tech with a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. I remained at Tech and completed my master’s in Biology. Afterwards, I was accepted to the IBP program at the University of Minnesota and where I graduated in the summer of 2023.

Research and responsibility in the lab: My project is focused on the molecular dissection of C3aR1 signaling in obesity. My research revolves around the activation of C3aR1, by its endogenous ligands, C3a and TLQP-21 results in a difference in signaling. In the lab, I am primarily responsible for the cell culture as well as any in vitro that involve these cells to some degree. Additionally, I have been getting more immersed in experiments involving mice as well.
